Palm Desert to mark Fourth of July and America’s 250th birthday at Civic Center Park
The city’s annual Independence Day event will feature live music, food, family activities, a sensory safe space, and a fireworks show synchronized to local radio stations.

The City of Palm Desert is inviting residents and visitors to Civic Center Park on Friday, July 4, for an Independence Day celebration that will also serve as part of the nationwide commemoration of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
This year’s event will include America250-themed giveaways and surprises throughout the evening, alongside the city’s traditional Fourth of July programming.
Festivities begin at 4 p.m. with family-friendly games and activities behind the Family YMCA of the Desert, with food trucks and vendors starting service at 5 p.m.
The Swing Cats Big Band will take the main stage at 7 p.m., performing a mix of swing favorites and American classics.
The evening concludes at 9 p.m. with a fireworks display lasting approximately 20 minutes, synchronized to patriotic music broadcast on Mix 100.5 FM and 98.5 The Bull.
For attendees who may be sensitive to loud sounds, the city will provide a Sensory Safe Space at the Portola Community Center, 45480 Portola Ave., from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Earplugs will also be available at the event.
Civic Center Park is located at 73510 Fred Waring Drive. Parking at the park is available off Fred Waring Drive until lots reach capacity, with overflow parking at the Palm Desert Aquatic Center and College of the Desert.
A free, air-conditioned shuttle will run between The Gardens on El Paseo and Civic Center Park from 6 to 10 p.m.
Attendees are reminded that alcohol, smoking, barbecues, personal fireworks, and golf carts are not permitted within the event area. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, low-back chairs, and picnic items.
